St Petersburg, Russia, April 2013

Voilà, après je ne vous embête plus avec la Russie, après j'en arrive à maintenant, tout de suite en Angleterre, mais d'abord, d'abord...

Last but not least - St Petersburg, part 3

One day I was wondering by myself in the streets, I found something called ' Museum of Non-Conformist Art' on my map, and decided to take a look. Well, my instincts were as good as that : I found the perfect place, with drawings and graffitis on the walls, messages of peace and nonsense, but most of all : an entire street and square dedicated to the Beatles... Yes, you can imagine the happiness in my heart. This place is not the kind of Museum we are used to, you have to go through little streets, little rooms in old buildings to find concert venues, a bar for philosophers and artists, studios and galleries of photographies.. It felt like I was somewhere far from Russia, somewhere hidden and magical, something different.

If you somehow want to find the place : http://www.saint-petersburg.com/museums/museum-non-conformist-art/

Sorry for quality

En entire room covered in Russian..

Cherchez celui qui n'a rien compris

Because we all live in a Sous-marin vert, un sous-marin vert, un sous-marin vert.

St Petersburg, Russia, April 2013

To each part 1, there is a part 2.. Here it is! ( Lamest introduction in italics ever, I know..)

St Petersburg part 2 - Breathtaking.

'The Church of Our Savior of the Spilled Blood' was one of the reasons why I could not miss this trip to st Petersburg. I had seen it in the list of must-visit places, and since then I could not stop obsessing about seeing this Church for real. Seems silly right? But honestly, I had never seen something that incredible in my travels. The outside was great, but the inside.. Man, I want you to imagine an entire Church covered by Biblic scenes made of colourful mosaic ( or just look at my pictures, it works too).

On day 2, we went to visit the famous and gigantic museum of the Hermitage, which was crowded even though we were there for the opening, but which was absolutely free of charge for students ! * smile*. Well, you sure need an entire day to look at everything precisely, and of course after three or four hours, you can't walk anymore.. But it is worth it, if not for the Art ( which is great btw, you can find amazing pieces from all kinds of eras !) at least for the Russian palace you find yourself in ! It kinda leaves you with a bizarre feeling that this kind of place should not exist while people are starving in the world though ( for God's sakes, who needs a Golden room in a museum, or in a palace for that matter? Anyway..)

Baby Hercules, yaaaaay

I think you've got a hand on your head.

looks just like my living room.

Oh no!

No, Russia is not extravagant.

Found in Lumiland ( lol)
Anyway, still got one more thing on Russia coming, and then it will be all about sweet lovely England, and other stuff. See you later ( alligator, ahhaahahaha. Shh.)

St Petersburg, Russia, April 2013

I thought I would be able to talk about everything before I got to England, well... This blog is definitely not chronological !

St Petersburg, part 1 - Streets ( & roofs)

' Part 1', because our trip only lasted three days, but there were three very intense days of walking, laughing, finding our way through the crowd and in the ' metro'. We used couchsurfing for accomodation, which turned out to be great. We did things that I never expected doing in my life, like climbing on the roofs of St Petersburg for sunset, eating sushis in a tiny appartment shared by  two linguists and very welcoming open-minded people and a hipster crazy cat lady ( Don't think I'm kidding, you don't know the whole story), visiting those magnificent churches you can see on travel agencies catalogues, and walking around town by myself in the afternoon, discovering an amazing and hidden part of town while the others were rope jumping ( more on that later haha).

I'll let you enjoy, and be jealous if you like..

Soundtrack.

A bit less poetic, I know...

On the rooftops..
