Užupis - The Republic of the Artists

The island located in Vilnius's Old Town is very peculiar.. Cross the Vilnia River and you'll find this sign :

You will enter the Republic of Užupis, a Republic of the Artists, with its own constitution, its own flag, ministers, President and embassies. Independance day falls on April 1st, day on which you can come and have a special stamp made on your passport ! Walk through the streets and you will find nice little artistic touches.. Lovely !
